Healthcare analytics professionals or healthcare analysts usually work in hospitals and large medical settings. These include in areas such as claims processing, supply dispersal, and quality of treatment.

How to Become a Healthcare Analytics

To become a healthcare analytics professional or healthcare analyst, you will need to hold at least a bachelor’s degree, usually with relevant subjects such as business. This will enable you to obtain an entry level position. However, healthcare analysts work closely together with manipulating and managing figures, which means that you deal with sensitive and complex data. As a result, most healthcare settings now prefer to hire applicants who have a master’s degree in a relevant field. The curriculum should at the very least include basic computer science, statistics, and mathematics. Most employers now look for those with a graduate degree in computer science, nursing, public health, health informatics, public policy, or biostatistics.

Training & Certification Requirements

There is no requirement for someone to obtain additional certification to become a healthcare analyst. However, someone who becomes a Certified Health Data Analyst tends to be in the greatest demand. This certification can be obtained through the American Health Information Management Association.
