They are important mental health professionals who help teens and adolescents create practical and logical plans to ensure they can meet short and long term goals, for instance. In fact, the majority of pediatric psychologists work with teens, in order to determine whether adolescents have any signs of developmental delays, confusion, or learning disabilities. Additionally, they often perform research on issues such as problematic behavior, triggers, and cause and effect on pediatric behavior.
Work Environment
Pediatric psychologists often work from their own private practices. They can also be linked to schools and educational establishments, or to government agencies. Many find employment in homes for teens with problematic behavior, or they can work for nonprofit organizations, such as Childline. Some leave clinical work behind and research pediatric psychology issues, often also teaching at the graduate level.
